2015 was a whirlwind, kittens. It seems like everyone in my social circles had a year of rather extreme ups and downs. I can’t say that I’m sad to see it go, and I hope that 2016 is full of better things for us all!

I thought I knit more in December–it sure felt like I did. I’m happy with what I managed to finish and started working on some smaller items after the craziness of Handspun/Handknit Giftmas was over. Comparing to my numbers from last year, my knitting productivity has been way down. (It’s something like a 40% reduction, just looking at it quickly and off the top of my head.) I think that Lamby had a lot to do with that this year. I’ve had a difficult time trying to balance work with leisure, and that’s definitely something I will work on in the coming year! Now, onto better things and fresh projects!

Happy 2016!

So, I’m embarrassed. It did not occur to me until this weekend that I could not remember having written November’s yardage tally post. This isn’t unusual for me: I have a terrible memory. I can recall a ridiculous amount of trivia, long-term stored memories, and conversations I’ve read or heard… but have me remember whether or not I’ve performed a task in the last few hours or days, and I’m about as good as worthless for it.  I come by it honestly; it runs in the family. Possibly worse is the fact that after I realized I may not have written this post, I proceeded to immediately forget until this morning. So November’s yardage tally is happening in the middle of December.

That confession out of the way, let’s discuss my knitting instead. All of November’s yardage came from knitting glorious handspun for “Handspun/Handknit Giftmas.” I didn’t do too poorly, if I may say so! I’m rather pleased that I managed to keep my yardage up despite being so busy and having a lot to get done. I’m hoping for a strong finish to the year. It’s hard to feel much like knitting when the weather is so unseasonably warm, and there’s still so much else to do! I’m hoping to get some knitting done while on vacation. I’m currently planning out what is realistic to take back with me. My life would be so much easier if I could knit in the car, but, alas! I get severe motion sickness.

October was nearly as productive as September was, which I’m quite pleased with! It was a very busy month here Chez Knitpicky with Spinzilla and a visit from family, so I really couldn’t ask for better numbers than that. I finished a pair of socks, a “sharf,” and made some excellent progress on my Atelier cardigan. It wasn’t finished by the end of the month as I wanted, but it’s in a good place to be finished in the first 10 days of November, give or take.

The weather has been cooling down (which is always welcome), and we’ve transitioned from overly hot weather in the the cool, damp fall. It’s even snowed once already! Perfect weather to curl up with a knitting project, some tea, and watch some movies or podcasts. It’s looking to be another excellent month for knitting and crafting! How did October treat you, kitten? Were you productive, or was it still too warm to want to work with wool where you are?

There has been a definite upswing in my knitting productivity this month, kittens! (And this doesn’t include a pattern repeat I knit on my Ulmus which is currently MIA.) It feels good to have a month with just over 1,000 yards knit again and so much to show for it. I finished a couple of small objects, as well as made progress on my Rhinebeck sweater. If I keep up this pace through the end of the year, I should easily be stash neutral or maybe even a tiny bit green! I am loving the cooler weather and the urge to knit it has brought with it. Happy knitting in October, you all!

While under 800 yards is usually be an amount I would be disappointed in, August was one of the better months for knitting I’ve had in 2015.  Third best, in fact.  I’ve been plagued with low knitting mojo and productivity all year, it seems: socks and knit toys do not yield much yardage for the time put into them.  I should be seeing an upswing in knitted yardage and stash out this final quarter of the year since I’m tackling a large gift-giving project.  We shall see!

Things are still pretty warm here, and I’m dreaming of the fall with its crisp air and chances to start wearing my handknits.  Are you ready, kittens?  Have you been crafty throughout the year and hot months, or are you in a slump too?

Kittens, it was another low yardage month due to not tracking one of my projects combined with low knitting mojo and time.  My desire to knit usually becomes non-existent in the summer months; that is normal for me.  I’m not sure in the past it’s reached the point that it’s quite as low as it is now.  We’re having a fairly mild summer which leaves me hopeful that the fall chill will soon hit…and with it, I hope to see my knitting mojo return.  I have plans to work on (and hopefully finish!) a shawl this month, as well as to start a new pair of socks, and to work on some other projects too.  I may be able to turn around some of my numbers for the rest of the year.  I am quite curious to see how 2015 will stack up to 2014 when all is said and done.

So. Updating the blog hasn’t been a huge priority the last few months here at Chez Knitpicky. I keep meaning to make entries and then forgetting about them until weeks later. Even worse, I haven’t kept track of how much I actually worked on projects, so the last two months’ numbers are on the low end. When I do weigh those other projects again, they will be a bit higher in yardage than I actually worked on those months. May this teach me to not procrastinate on these posts again.
